Take Freelance Entrepreneurship to the Next Level

America’s economic landscape will probably never be the same. Consequently, the career landscape has also changed forever. And while the financial pundits spend their time talking about corporate profitability, we need fresh thinking for helping individuals and families enhance their personal profitability by redesigning their professional pursuits. Many career options that were prevalent before the recession will no longer exist in the future. People need to recognize that it’s time to adjust their traditional thinking as it relates to their career.

Of course this time of year is associated with temporary or seasonal work. We typically see this at retail stores and restaurants that have extended business hours with the anticipation of larger crowds of shoppers. Fortunately, for enterprising individuals the concept of temporary work doesn’t have to be confined to the holiday season. Recently Entrepreneur Magazine had an interesting article about this topic, “There a New ‘Preneur’ on the Block“. They introduce the term “tempreneur”, which is described as…

“The tempreneur is a new breed of worker; [they are] where the opportunities stick, depending on the day, the month, the quarter. As a tempreneur, you have to figure out what is going to serve you best. One month, [they] might shift more toward being a tempreneur, doing a series of projects because the opportunities are plentiful. The next month, [they] might shift more toward the entrepreneurial style, serving a long-term client in a more traditional manner.

It’s all about flexibility. They’re not by definition a freelancer or a consultant. They shift depending on what opportunities present themselves, and it’s that agility that makes them unique.”
